It’s a beautiful weekend with too much to do outside, so here is a very short round-up of some of the good things we’ve seen around the Internet this week…
From the Huffington Post, An Open Apology to All my Weight Loss Clients, by Iris Higgins. “A teenage girl walks in with no visible body fat and lots of muscle tone, tells you she’s a runner and is happy with her weight… but her mother says she’s fat and has to lose weight and so we help her do just that. As an individual, as women, as a company, hell, as a nation, we don’t stand up for that girl? What is wrong with us? There ain’t nothing right about that. Nothing…Just eat food. Eat real food, be active, and live your life. Forget all the diet and weight loss nonsense. It’s really just that. Nonsense.” Wonderful article and highly recommended. Read it here.
Teen Choice Awards winner Ashton Kutcher gave a beautiful speech that may well be a publicity stunt for his upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, but who cares? The sentiment was fabulous, and especially timely for teenagers, who are being sold a horrid bill of goods on a daily basis. “The sexiest thing in the entire world is being really smart. And being thoughtful, and being generous. Everything else is crap, I promise you. It’s just crap that people try to sell to you to make you feel like less.”
And finally, congratulations to the winner of our first-ever Beauty Foodie contest. The lucky gal was announced on August 16th on our Facebook page. For future giveaways and monthly bite-sized bits for your busy wellness lifestyle, sign on up for our newsletter and stay in the loop!
